How does the AI Scorecard calculate a rating?▼
Every product detected undergoes an evaluation by the AI. It compiles a rating from 1 to 10 based on:
- Review Sentiment Analysis: Distinguishing fake/biased ratings from genuine buyer satisfaction.
- Discount Authenticity: Checking if the "original price" was artificially inflated recently to make the sale look bigger.
- Price Stability: Analyzing the item's 30-day and 90-day history to ensure you are buying near its lowest-ever price.
How do Web Push notifications work? Is it battery-heavy?▼
Our push notifications are built on standard Web Push APIs:
- Battery Friendly: They use 0% of your background battery. Instead of polling our servers continuously, your browser listens to the OS notification push channel.
- Service Worker: When a price drop is detected on our servers, we broadcast a secure message to your browser's registered service worker, displaying the banner instantly.
- How to enable: Simply tap "Alert Me" on a deal, and approve the permission prompt. You can test your connection anytime by clicking "Send Test Notification" in your user panel.
What happens to my local favorites when I register?▼
To keep things frictionless, we save your bookmarks in your browser's `localStorage` while browsing as a guest:
- Auto-Synchronization: The moment you sign up or log in, our frontend automatically synchronizes and merges those local saved deals into your secure profile database.
- Cross-Device Access: Once synced, you can access your saved wishlist on any phone, tablet, or desktop computer.
How are expired or out-of-stock deals moderated?▼
Amazon deals can sell out or change prices rapidly. We moderate our listings through a community-driven model:
- Report dead deals: If you spot a dead deal, go to its page and click Report Deal or use the 😢 Out of Stock reaction emoji.
- Rule of 3: Once a product receives 3 reports from registered accounts, it is automatically marked as expired. It is faded out on home feeds and detail pages to prevent other shoppers from clicking inactive deals.
How does the Gift Finder Quiz select recommendations?▼
When you complete the 3-step quiz wizard, our recommendation engine processes your budget and interest filters dynamically:
- Category Mapping: We map your selected interest to dozens of actual normalized product categories in our Supabase index.
- Budget Filtering: Matches are strictly capped at your budget limit (e.g. under $25, $50, or $100).
- Reranking Algorithm: Items are ordered by rating (highest first), discount percentage (highest first), and recency of updates, and the top 5 matches are loaded.
